Mission Possible 5k

Mark Sunday, November 4th, 2012 on your calendars for Mission Possible’s 5th Annual 5k Road Race and Kids’ Fun Run! All proceeds will benefit the Miller School Playground. The race features a certified course, professional timing, a Kids’ Fun Run, and prize drawings. We’ll also have special activities for the kids!

End of Year Teacher Appreciation Gifts

It’s that time of year again…May and June are filled with activities as the last few weeks of the 2011-2012 school year wind down.

If you are planning end-of-year gifts to thank your child’s teachers for their efforts, please consider the Playground Project’s Teacher Appreciation program.

Through our Thank-a-Teacher Program, you can make a donation in your classroom teacher’s name to the Miller School Playground Fund. A special acknowledgement will be given to your child’s teachers to notify them of your gift.

Any donation, either from the class as a whole or from a single student, is appreciated.  All proceeds from the Teacher Appreciation Program go to the Miller School Playground renovations: an effort that will benefit our schools, teachers, and community.

Also, depending on the amount and size of the donation, you may choose to consider our Buy-a-Brick Program.

Playground Carnival update

Much thanks to all of you who kicked off your April vacation with us at the Miller Playground Carnival! The Carnival raised approximately $6,000, bringing us a few steps closer to securing the funds to replace the current 20 year old structure with a new accessible ADA compliant playground.

The Playground Project thanks the folks from last September’s Holliston Autism and Special Needs Walk for their big check presentation at the opening of the event. Their generous gift brings the playground project another $8k closer to realizing its goal.

Special thanks to our Carnival sponsors: Coffee Pond Photography, Everwood Camps, Chamberlain Pines, Natick Dental, and Music, Movement & More! The committee also thanks New York Life for providing complimentary child ID kits during the Carnival. If you missed their table, New York Life will also be providing free child id kits next Saturday, April 28th, as part of the events scheduled for the Week of the Young Child..

A big thank you also goes to Fiske’s, Coffee Haven, and the Superette for helping sell tickets for the event!

Advance discounted tickets are still available today (Friday) at Fiske’s, the Superette, and Coffee Haven!

Saturday, April 14th (April Vacation week)
11am – 2pm
(Doors open at 10:45am; Magic Show starts promptly at 11am)
Placentino/Miller Cafeteria

The Carnival features a Magic Show from 11am-11:50am, followed by Carnival fun from 11:50am until 2pm with three bouncy towers, face-painting, carnival games, concessions, and more. Please see our event map for more details. Hope to see you there!

Tickets purchased at the door the day of the Carnival will be $12 each.

Jump Rope for the Playground update

The Miller students and Placentino 2nd graders did an amazing job with the Jump-a-thon event held yesterday, March 1st. All their fundraising, jump roping, and dancing efforts culminated in their accomplishment of raising almost $40,000 in funds to go toward a new playground for the Miller School.

The gymnasium was filled with lots of smiling kids, jumping and dancing throughout the day. Prizes will be awarded to students once all the bookkeeping and counting activities are completed.

Much thanks go to the elementary physical education teachers, Todd Kiley and Jason MacDonald, for all their work organizing and running this event.

A big thank you goes to all the Miller and Placentino students, their families and sponsors for all their efforts and support!

The Playground Project thanks Long Distance Tire, Natick Dental Partners, Elite Gymnastics, Dancing Arts Center, Holliston Medical, Hopkinton Vision, and MBF Printing for supporting Jump Rope for the Playground with their sponsorship.

Also, much thanks goes to John Palterini from Fiske’s for donating gift certificates as prizes and for all his continued and generous support of this project.

Jump Rope Sponsorship and Dodgeball Sign-ups

Jump Rope for the Playground in support of the Milller School playground rebuild is just days away!

If you have out-of-town family and friends who are interested in sponsoring a child, please let them know that they can donate using the secure PayPal link on our site’s Donate Page if they would like to. Sponsors can indicate a student’s name in the “Purpose” field so their donation will count towards the child’s prize totals.

Dodgeball Tournament

Registration is underway through March 1st!

If your elementary through high school age child would like to participate in the Dodgeball Tournament with a team of friends, please fill out the registration form and return it with the sign-up fee to the Holliston High School Main Office by March 1st. Teams consisting of 6-8 players will compete for fun and prizes. For more information on the Tournament, please see the event flyer on Backpack Express.

Jump Rope for the Playground Event Information

Jump Rope for the Playground Event

March 1st during school hours
Placentino and Miller Gymnasium
Students in grades 2-5

Jump Rope for the Playground is coming soon! Jump Rope for the Playground is a fun event where children jump rope with friends and learn about the value of exercise and healthy habits, all while contributing to their school’s new playground.

Students are asked to collect sponsors from early February until March 1st, the day of the Jump-a-thon event. Envelopes with sponsor sign-up forms and additional information are being sent home with children the week of February 6th.  Students are eligible for a variety of prizes based on the amount of money raised. Please see the Prize Poster attached to this post for more information on prize levels.

Jump Rope for the Playground is an important fundraiser for the Playground Project this year. The support of the school community and sponsors is greatly appreciated. If you would like any additional information, or have any questions, please email us at fmillerplayground@gmail.com. Thank you!

Happy New Year and Thank You to Fiske’s

Happy New Year to you all!

2012 is going to be a big year for the Miller School Playground! We have several fun programs and events in the planning stages, starting with our Jump Rope for the Playground Event coming up in March. For more information about all our upcoming events, please check back under the Programs & Events tab where we will be posting the latest updates and details as they become available.

Also, the playground committee sends out a big thank you to John Palterini at Fiske’s for donating $600 from the sale of the 2011 Holliston Happy ornament. Thank you to everyone who visited Fiske’s and Doug Sent Me Cleaners to purchase the ornament and support the playground.
